Department of “Construction and Civil Engineering” of the Zhytomyr Agricultural Technical College
Theoretical and practical training, practice-oriented skills and abilities enable a specialist to perform successfully the functions of both a middle manager and a skilled worker.
In 1992, together with the departments of the Rivne Technical University, was developed an integrated curriculum for the specialty “Maintenance of Water Supply and Drainage System Equipment”.
In 2002, another engineering specialty “Installation, Maintenance of Equipment and Gas Supply Systems” was opened, new integrated curricula were developed, classrooms and laboratories were created. And the department received the name “Water and gas supply”.
According to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of April 29, 2015 No. 266 “On the approval of the list of fields of knowledge and specialties for which higher education candidates are trained”, the specialties “Maintenance of equipment of water supply and drainage systems” and “Installation, maintenance of equipment of gas supply systems” were summarized under one title 192 “Construction and civil engineering”.
From 1992 to 2014 the department was headed by Pavlo Ivanovych Shkatula. While working at the educational institution, Pavlo Ivanovych constantly contributed to the development of the educational and material base of the department, assisted teachers in the design of classrooms and laboratories.
The team’s activities are aimed at the implementation of innovative learning technologies, the creation of educational and methodological support for disciplines, and the creation of a material and technical base of the specialty.
The teachers and the students of education were equipped with the laboratories “Hydraulics”, “Hydrology and hydrometry”, “Automatics and telemechanics of gas supply systems”, classrooms “Geodesy”, “Water supply”, “Water drainage”, “Pumps and pumping stations”, “Gasified boiler units”, “Occupational safety”, “Technology and organization of construction and installation “, “Operation of equipment and gas supply systems”. It was created training ground “Installation, maintenance of equipment and gas supply systems”.
Teachers are constantly working on updating the material base of classrooms, developing and implementing long-term plans for the department’s development. The department pays great attention to the development of the creative abilities of students.
The department has created all the conditions for students to acquire the necessary theoretical and practical training. Students of the department are active participants in artistic activities and members of the college football, volleyball, and table tennis teams.
